Spacefarer
So I stumbled upon a shipwreck,
While I was wandering through the cosmos-
So I stumbled upon an old man,
While I was walking by a nebula-
So I stumbled through a sentence
Asked him, stranger, what happened to ya?
So I got me a bit ah provisions, see,
A bit ah tackle, bait, an’ more-
An’ I set off from the port o’ dreams,
Offa god’s great starlit shore-
So I just happened to be ah fishin’,
Along the immeasur’ble astral plain-
When along came ah star for wishin’,
Soarin’ like a solar crane.
So I bucked mah stellar craft right quick,
To dodge that hurlin’ light-
But the glowin’ bugger gave th’ mast a kick,
And there began my plight-
Now my boat’s been rocked and splintered,
And I’m stuck with some extra time-
My trollin’ has been hindered now,
Bored and ponderin’ things sublime.
Here is some advice for you, my friend – he said with some chagrin,
When sailin’ ‘round the heavens, don’t you worry ‘bout no sin-
Cause in outer space we’re lordless, no burdens on our mind
But be wary of the seas, lest some rascal strike you blind.
